Four days is the ideal duration to experience the Mara properly. Two full days of game drives allow you to move with the rhythms of the ecosystem — early mornings with the big cats, midday elephant encounters at the Mara River, golden afternoon light painting the savannah. This is Kenya as it was meant to be experienced.
Depart Nairobi early morning by private 4x4, driving southwest through the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Stop at a viewpoint for coffee before the final descent into the Mara ecosystem. Arrive at your luxury tented camp by early afternoon; then straight into an evening game drive as the savannah turns amber.
Pre-dawn departure. The big cats are most active in the cool hours before sunrise. Your KPSGA-certified naturalist guide reads the landscape like a book. A gourmet bush breakfast is served in the field under acacia shade. Afternoon brings the Mara River game drive — hippos, crocodiles, and the constant tension of potential crossings.
A second full day allows you to follow specific animal stories. Afternoon takes you into an adjoining private conservancy where vehicle numbers are strictly limited, guaranteeing intimate wildlife encounters. The evening game drive ends with the Mara painted in full crimson sunset.
No departure is wasted. A final early morning drive before a relaxed camp breakfast — then your private vehicle departs for Nairobi via the Rift Valley. Arrive Nairobi mid-afternoon.
